An informal night of caroling and carousing: Sunday, December 17, Meet at Patricia Park, 6:00 pm

To get in the festive spirit we’ll be walking around the neighbourhood, singing carols, fa-la-la-ing and jingling all the way. It should be a lot of fun. All ages welcome. Please dress appropriately for the weather.

We’ll meet at Patricia Park at 6:00 pm and embark on our journey by 6:15. Stay for as little or as long as you like. Song sheets will be provided. Singing ability optional.

OPEN HOUSE FOR PALIKA BAZAAR REZONING

Wednesday, Dec. 13, 6 pm – 8:30 pm, St. Timothy’s School
(14330 117 St NW)

The City of Edmonton and developers behind “Palika Bazaar”, a new retail development planned at 6865  Ad Astra Blvd, are holding an open house to provide information and gather feedback around the rezoning application. It will be valuable for residents to attend to get more information about the plans and the proposed zoning change, and to make your thoughts known.

Earlier this year, Griesbach Community League declined to offer our support of the rezoning application (see link below). It was our feeling that the existing CNC zoning was put in place to maintain the character and standards we associate with our community, as set out in the Griesbach Neighbourhood Area Structural Plan. The CB1 zoning the developer is applying for would relax restrictions related to the type of business that could go in.

Click below to read the letter Griesbach Community League submitted to the City of Edmonton (pdf file). It indicates our reason for not actively endorsing the rezoning.

While we did not come out in favour of changing the zoning, we do wish the developers nothing but success. It is our understanding that the development will go ahead regardless of the zoning decision. You may disagree. In any case, we do encourage you to attend to learn more and provide your input.
