Griesbach Fall Bottle Drive Cancelled

The Bottle Drive Griesbach Community League was planning to hold on October 1st will be cancelled. We apologize for any inconvenience – especially to those who regularly save up their bottles for us. We simply didn’t have enough volunteers to make it happen. We promise we’ll be back for a spring bottle drive.

If you take you bottles in, you can always write a check to Griesbach Community League to support our general programs (as we’ve raised the requisite funding for the playground). Otherwise, we’re sure there will be other worthy groups coming round to support their own organizations.

Census reveals how rapidly Griesbach is growing

The City of Edmonton has just released its 2016 Census. In the four years since the last census, Griesbach has experienced significant growth. In 2012 there were 3,221 residents. Today there are 4,714!

The neighbourhood continues to attract families. The number of children under ten years old in our community has increased from 429 to 667.

We’ve posted a summary of the 2016 Census on our website (click here). You can also find the 2012 Census results on our Resources page if you wish to compare.

Perron Berger Park

Edmonton’s most scenic art walk takes place in Griesbach’s Perron Berger Park, along the path to a tranquil lake known as Bedford Basin. The event features many of Edmonton’s finest artists: a surprising number of whom call Griesbach home, such as Anabel Quan and Helen Ma.

There will be a diverse variety of artwork available for sale, including paintings, prints, sculpture, illustration, crafts and more. Most artists have “cubes” to accept credit card payment these days, but it wouldn’t hurt to have a little cash in your wallet, just in case.

“Now that we are in our third year, and are becoming established, we are attracting more and more artists who absolutely want to be part of this great event,” explains Art In The Park curator, Bryan Evans.

“You’ll find works of all sizes, colours and price ranges. From large wall-size pieces to smaller accents for your Griesbach home.”

Below is a list of the participating artists, with links to their websites (where available). We look forward to seeing you this Saturday! And after you’ve  browsed all of the art, be sure to hit our beer and wine gardens to toast your purchase!

Griesbach “SHAKE at the LAKE” AND “Art IN THE PARK” ARE BACK!

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 17th
1:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Perron Berger Park
(Pegasus Blvd., by Bedford Basin)

It’s tough to say who is looking forward to the annual Griesbach Shake At The Lake community event more.
The kids… who can’t get enough  of the bouncy castles, face painting, balloon animals and games?

IMG_6656Or the adults… who get a chance to check out OVER 30 EDMONTON ARTISTS at the Griesbach “Art in the Park” Art Walk or enjoy a cold brew or crisp glass of wine in the beer gardens while rocking out to our incredible live band.

Every year it just keeps getting better and better. This year, we’re pleased to announce we won’t have just any bouncy castle – but a full-on OBSTACLE BOUNCER. We’ll also have a smaller bouncy castle just for the wee ones.
You might be surprised to learn that Griesbach is home to a great musical talent, who will be performing at this year’s Shake at the Lake with his trio.
